A Tip for Amazon Users
I have just read a book called The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery. It’s a funny and very moving story written originally in French and now translated into 30 languages. I read it in English but I thought I would buy it in French for my daughter as she speaks the language. I checked on amazon uk and a French language version was 20 pounds. Then I had a little brainwave and I checked on amazon.fr to find the book including post would cost 12 euros. which is equivalent to 10 pounds.
Even though I speak very little French there was no difficulty navigating the site as the format and the icons are the same as the English version. It occured to me that if you are sourcing items for sale on ebay that a look at foreign language amazon sites might yield some interesting bargains.

This is really helpful, Ann, thanks for this.
Enjoy the journey.

Hi Ann,
This is not the first time I have been at your site, but it is however the first time I’ve left a comment.
I like the way your site is presented and your blog content is great. This tip is very useful to my wife and I. Well, more so for my wife…she uses Amazon all the time.
We have boxes of books she needs to get ride of somewhere. I guess it is ebay time or the local library.

Hi Ann,
Thats a very interesting point, take a look at this translation software that i use to translate foreign customers emails to english http://freetranslation.com, can you suggest to people how they use this to locate books on foreign sites asking questions or translating content information to english about books?

Hi John
I hadn’t thought of translation software in this context before. I think it would be a good idea for translating commands and instructions on a site. I don’t know about translating entire texts though, I hear that they are not always accurate. You might need a human translator especially if you want to convey the tone and texture as well as a literal translation. But it’s worth thinking about , thanks for the tip.
Regards
Ann
